All your actions on the internet are tracked. Your surfing behaviour, your online purchases; marketing companies pay good money for that information. Because your information allows them to target you better with online advertising and so on. But you can limit your digital tracks, if you want to.

Use an ad blocker
Are you tired of unwanted banners and ads that decrease your speed but increase your data usage? Install an ad blocker. This increases your privacy – and many of them are available for free.

Turn off your location
Many people have their location continuously turned on when using their laptop, tablet or smartphone. This allows Google and online marketing companies to track your every move. You do not want that? Simply disable your location and/or GPS. How? This is different for every device; check the settings. Or ask a colleague or co-student for help. Do you need location determination, for example for your route planner? Then enable it temporarily.
